YouTube Martyrs®️

This collection of large-scale paintings are allegories based on "The Golden Legend" by Saint James of the Voragine, in which the artist revisits the lives of Christian martyrs from a contemporary perspective. In this case, the "martyrs" are YouTube influencers, and the attributes surrounding them are related both to the saint they represent and to the careers of each of the influencers. In recent years, the term "YouTuber" has been used derogatorily. Many of these new communicators and influencers have suffered hate and attacks from both mainstream media and anonymous individuals hiding behind fake nicknames. This series of paintings offers a symbolic interpretation of the suffering and trials endured by many of those who now have millions of followers around the world and whose voices are heard en masse.
