San Jaime Altozano (like San Bartolomé)
San Jaime Altozano (like San Bartolomé)
Jaime Altozano is portrayed as Saint Bartholomew. He was flayed and decapitated, which is why Jaime's own head appears on the ground. But he does not only appear as the martyred saint and also on the ground, there is a third figure of Jaime that is at the top looking at the scene from the wall. In that same location we see a figure pointing at the scene, another that simply observes impassively, a mannequin that symbolizes the mass of people watching his videos, another that covers its eyes, two with mobile phones, one taking a selfie and another recording and finally a woman with an oil lamp. Each one has a meaning, like this last one that connects with one of the scenes of the saint when they say that a devotee filled the lamp that illuminated Saint Bartholomew with oil. He appeared to her and told her not to do it, that she should give that oil to the poor. These stone figures remind us of the sculptures found in many churches and cathedrals, such as in the Vatican. There are also glowing bones on the ground. When the saint was killed, they scattered his bones in the forest, as they continued to perform miracles. Saint Bartholomew appeared to a monk and told him to go at night to collect them, as they would glow like glowing embers.
