The Lady of Painting. Allegory XXVII.
The Lady of Painting. Allegory XXVII.
This work is a reflection on painting. It is based on paintings by authors such as Manet (The Olympia) or Titian (Venus) and many others who throughout the centuries have represented the muse lying down, demanding her naked body from the spectators, which are us. Here we see extreme nakedness. The bones. In this case they are bathed in a magenta light that makes them look like a leaf. The three cats in the composition seem to be comfortable in front of a skeleton that has a life of its own, which rests one of its hands on books by Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Brueguel and Velázquez.
