The milk they gave you, Fable of the Bear
The milk they gave you, Fable of the Bear
This is the finished work that I did live at the Eneaverso 2024 event organized by Javier Camacho, based on a fable invented by him. I painted it in about 2 and a half hours and I have given it some finishing touches in my studio.
It is a free interpretation of the fable of the bear family, where the father forbids the bears to drink milk, although he himself does not know the reason. One night one of the bears escapes and drinks milk. Not only does nothing happen to him, but he discovers that it is very good.
In my work I represent the father bear as something from the past, as a skeleton with a bear mask and a fur coat. He is a puppeteer, who pulls the strings of his bear children, although in the painting only the strings are visible. Who is he pulling? Perhaps us.
On the other hand, a small bear puppet sits on his shoulder, looking over him, drinking milk. Each figure looks in a different direction. The skull looks down and the bear looks out to the horizon. It is a painting full of symbolism.
This work was acquired by the collector and businessman Felipe Alayeto, whom I met and saw his immense sensitivity towards art.
