Frida Kahlo. The survivor
Frida Kahlo. The survivor
Frida Kahlo has been painted millions of times, countless merchandising objects have been made with her face, but she has rarely been represented with the drama that her life must have been like, bedridden, with pain all over her body and being in the shadow of a man who loved her and denigrated her at the same time. In this work I wanted to represent her face down, with the flowers in her hair that characterized her so much and painting a self-portrait. But the self-portrait is not like the one she used to make. She paints herself smoking, more mundane and carefree, and with Diego looking at her from behind. The general colors are those of the Mexican flag, since it has become a national symbol for many. This work is full of details that you will discover little by little, you just have to observe it and let it speak to you.
