Portraits on a Tray

This collection of portraits on a tray is a series of small-format works made using mixed media (acrylic and oil) in which Antonio García Villarán manages to express emotions, feelings and moods through the faces he presents. His models are people close to his circle and also himself. The important thing about these works is the fluidity with which the artist works with the forms and achieves with very few brushstrokes those extreme expressions that are so close to us. The use of colour and light add drama to the paintings and show both the freedom and wisdom of the artist in choosing these elements in a risky way.
