The Thinker II
The Thinker II
These lithographs belong to a time when I discovered the line and freed myself from all the clichés I had previously brought.
It happened in my third year of drawing. I knew my teacher, Manuel Álvarez Fijo, who made me see art in a different way. I started to be free.
He controlled space, deformed the figure, experimented endlessly and without fear.
In the summer of 97 I took a lithography course in Betanzos, La Coruña, with a German professor called Ludomir Yordanov.
For two weeks I was working in the workshop almost 12 hours a day.
I was fascinated by this technique and made some engravings that greatly interested my teacher. At the end of the workshop he asked me for one of these copies to be part of the Betanzos museum, where it is still on display today.
These lithographs have the beauty of imperfection.
They are state tests and no two are alike.
They are made from three plates, one black, one grey and the last ochre, and one of them has copper powder. They are undoubtedly unique pieces that I hope will end up in good collections.
